I never said that. All I want to stress on is that CSE should have been an
active participant.

Well, I have learned most of it by myself. What I am talking about is the
general awareness. I want to make the learning process smoother for
interested folks than what it has been for me. I guess that's what being an
ambassador is all about.
As for your last point about sending emails in plain-text format, I had no
idea that HTML email would offend you. I have been using it for all my posts
to the fedora mailing lists, and you are the only one to complain. However,
if there exists such rules, please FWD me the links and I will comply with
it.

Hey! Thats me.
by Stefan Posdzich
Hello,
my Name is Stefan Posdzich and i am 24 years old.
I was born in Duisburg, now i live in Warstein (both in North
Rhine-Westphalia / Germany).
I am working as a cook at "Haus Cramer" here in Warstein.
But i am searching for new challenges.
Vita:
- Spielen-unter-Linux.de / a German Linux gaming community since 2006 with
Forum, Wiki, VoIP Server, Downloads etc.
I am working (as chief editor) on a German magazine about Linux and
gaming. Release is expected for July.
- I have made various packages for Foresight Linux, Yellow Dog Linux, and
now for Fedora.
fbpanel, xqf and freesci are packages i have made for Fedora, more to come!
I started, in the late 90's, with SuSE (openSUSE) but Yast was a horror. I
switched to Debian and over the years, i really dont like the .deb system.
Then there was Foresight Linux and the revolutionary conary package
manager. But now, the german community is almost death.
I used Fedora for many years as a secondary system, for 1 year now its my
first system. I dont want to leave soon. :)
I want to help the German Fedora community to grow, and want to help to
spread the word.
Especially here in Warstein. Maybe i can build up a Linux User Group.....
I hope that i can be a part of FrOSCon '08
More about me -> https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Cheekyboinc
my regards
Stefan Posdzich
ps: thanks to petreu and red_alert from the German Fedora IRC Channel (
irc.freenode.net #fedore-de / join us! )
Without you.....i would never be a part of this....and so on... ;)

Beside that i have a MS-degree in electrical engineering - computer science. (but so long ago)
I been using Unix, BSD....and Linux since i started working with computer (early 80'). At that time i use to work as international engineer for a company called microsoft... writing specification, drivers, BIOS for the European market.
Now i am sharing my knowledge with younger peoples...
I am currently using RHEL5, Centos and Fedora for the course, even for cisco course (zebra / quagga project).
Beside Linux i am heavily working with routing (IP) concept and protocol like IS-IS or BGP and technology like MPLS / VPLS as well as VoIP.
enough about myself, let try to promote fedora project thru school and student.

Answers one by oneQ.Why i dint tell you that the script scrwd up at times ? Ans. because i dint use it, also its success/failure looked like a game of luck at times.. sometimes it installed what it had to and sometimes it failed.. Explaining this to you would have been done better by a user..Q.why i did not attend the workshops/contribute ??Ans . It was a choice i made at the time.. I had activaties that i chose to give preference to over the workshops , im efficient at teaching myself things using books and the internet which aided in my decision.. Also i did not think that the resources that i obtained would be helpful since the script was already available..Q. what was the right way??Ans.. listing the dependancies required for the ndiswrapper, and walking the attendees through a compilation from source.. it would have taught them the entire dependancy concept and the most basic way of installing a package.. The ati driver from the site should have
been provided as a temporary measure to enable the users to use the gui.. once these two are functional they should have been asked to try installing the other packages such as graphics fgxlr, kernel updates etc using yum on their own..and queries entertained via email if another session could not be managed shortly.. this would have shown the simplicity of yum and its convienience..I do not expect them to download dependancies.. i expect them to be told of which dependancies exactly are necessary and help them there.. Q. do i help ppl??Ans .. It is wrong for you to assume that i do not share my knowledge with people.. i just do not propogate the fact that im a linux user and that ive acquired knowledge with that respect... There are people who are known to specialise in linux ( you are a mojor example) and people prefer calling you and taking a script or a straight command than to looking up man pages or cosulting the fedoraforums (my
methods)...they do solve their problems.. they know what to do .. but not why they do so.. Q. how have i contributed??Ans.. installing fedora on 100+ peoples laptops out of which 20 use it regularly is not the only way of contributing.. Also u chose to fathom contributions in manipal..contributing outside manipal is also counted.. again.. thiese contributions will not be known to the public.. i dont simply say that this needs to be done.. i think of how it should be done and implement it wherever i can.. i have signed up for bug triaging and am learning (though slowly), i have also joined the freemedia and local provision programmes (at a standstill due to holidays) and have just joined the documentation project.. i dont need to tell anyone of these but im enlightening you to remove some false assumptions..Q do i want to quarrel with you??Ans.. thats the last thing im interested in doing \regards,Ankur..sincere apologies to all for the unneeded posts
on the topic... please ignore..just some clarification needed..clarifications ended..

How-to in Spanish
by Diego Escobar
Hi all:
I have done a little how-to about basic configuration of Fedora 9. It was
created for academic purposes (thinking in my local Linux Users Group named
"UNPLUG") but maybe could be useful for more Spanish speakers people. (It is
in spanish).
This guide is unofficial of course, and is a collection of all my published
posts (http://suservidorwp.blogspot.com) designed for newbies. Is part of
spread Fedora on Latinoamerica, where people prefers Ubuntu because there
are more blogs, wikis, and documentation in Spanish.
If you consider useful this guide, you can download it in:
http://suservidorwp.googlepages.com/fedora9.pdf
Greetings.

Its not that we were absolutely not informed. For example, I got the
information of the workshop, but rather late. Besides, when delivering
sessions or workshops like this, I guess CSE has to a very active part of
it. If we had known of it well in advance, then there would have been a
better participation from our Dept.

Some hardware will always failed , may be new, may be no open driver.
We all gone through this kind of situations.

That is correct, but for that pointing to wine will be *very bad*
idea. If we do so , then we are telling them to use proprietary
software. Where we should guide them to use FOSS tools and
applications.
Btw, please cc to the list also as this is an ongoing discussion.

About registering domains
by JohnChendra
Hello all, first of all sorry for my bad english. Secondly, sorry if this
post is unappropriate in this list.
The story goes like this:
I want to register and reserve fedoraproject.or.id for fedora community in
Indonesia to use, but at the time of the registration, it appears that I
need a confirmation letter from maybe our Project Leader or someone else in
charge or authorized (the term is "Internal Mandate Letter" or something
like that, it's in Indonesian). They gave me about 5 to 7 days to resolve
the problem and get the confirmation letter.
So, who should I talk to? Is there anyone that have similar problem?
Thanks in advance :)

extending fedora

i know that most children do like games but they like to play flash games
rather than full fledged games. ok let us not addict children to fedora but
teach them open source and its powers
