That's something I should have done, Jeffrey -- thank you for correcting my oversight! :-) I have the same reasons behind not being able to do this one. We can definitely use more than one attendee, so if anyone would like to back up the illustrious Mr. Pepple, that would be great. -- Paul W. Let me introduce myself
by "G"
Hi
This is Balaji from India . I reside in chennai and i work for an
TeleCom Company as a Software developer. I am happy to be part of the
Fedora Ambassadors team and i look forward to extend my contributions
more to the fedora project. I am already part of the Bug Triagging
team and test packages from the bodhi repository and give feedback to
the developers. We use Fedora in our company/projects to a great
extent.
Now that i ve become an official member of the Ambassadors team i
would like to help in expanding the fedora user base and the
contributor base.
Things which i feel could be done to kick off my contribution:
1.There are lot of people whom i know who are new to Linux and i help
them setting up fedora in their boxes/laptops . I ve been doing that
and would continue to do that.
2. There are tech savy people whom i know are interested in being part
of big open source projects but are not in a position to start
contributing to the projects. I feel this would be a great opportunity
to pull in those people to be part of the Contributors team
3. As mentioned above there are lot of people who use fedora in my
place of work and hence would like to act as a funnel between those
people and the fedora community to bring in their ideas and
suggestions that would help us in improving the experience.
I would appreciate any sugestions on the above points :)
Look forward for this exciting journey.
Cheers,
Balaji

OpenExpo 2008 Zurich/Winterthur
by Fabian Affolter
Hi all,
Some days ago I registered the Fedora Project for a participation at the
OpenExpo 2008 [1] at Winterthur (near Zurich / Switzerland). This
event is far away in the future for the moment but I think to start
early is always a good idea :-)
This things are fix:
- Wednesday, September 24th and Thursday, September 25th, 2008
- Eulachhallen, Winterthur (20 min by train from Zurich, even less
from Zurich's Airport), Switzerland
This things are variable for now:
- Attendees aka Booth personal
- Accommodation
- Booth program
I would like to invite all Swiss Fedora contributors (translators,
ambassadors (the Swiss and the German ones), packager, and other helping
hands) to join us there.
If you would like to help at this event add yourself to this page [2].
Kind regards,
Fabian

Using consistent URLs
by Paul W. Frields
One of the issues that we talked about at today's "release readiness"
meeting -- made up of reps from many subprojects in Fedora -- the issue
of using consistent URLs came up. If we can settle on URLs that can
cross releases, and use them consistently for any public communication,
it's easier for us to (1) provide a good user experience through
superior Web server administration, (2) track on metrics of user visits,
and (3) create unified marketing materials.
In our press releases, stories for digg, Slashdot, and anywhere else
people might see them, let's make sure we are using these URLs:
To get Fedora:
--> http://get.fedoraproject.org/
To join Fedora:
--> http://join.fedoraproject.org/
To read Release Notes:
--> http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes
--> http://docs.fedoraproject.org/ (can be shortened if needed)

Subject: Reminder about upcoming FUDCons
I wanted to take a moment to remind our community about the 3 FUDCons
that are coming up in the next few months, and encourage people to sign
up and attend.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon
May 30 -- a mini-FUDCon Berlin 2008, which takes place as a part of
LinuxTag. LinuxTag itself runs from May 28 - May 31, and Fedora will
have a strong presence there each day.
June 19-21 -- FUDCon Boston 2008, which will take place in conjunction
with the Red Hat Summit. Please sign up on our wiki (follow the link
above). This will be a 3 day event with hackfests, presentations,
tutorials, etc. FUDCon Boston is 100% free to attend for anyone in the
world.
September 2008 -- Still in the early planning phases, but we plan to
hold a multi-day FUDCon in Prague sometime in September. Follow the
link on the wiki if you would like to sign up and express your interest
in attending. FUDCon Prague is 100% free to attend for anyone in the
world.
I look forward to meeting some new members of our community at these
events!
