Dear All,
I've been trying to download the DVD image of FC5, but due to
slow connection speed I've not been able to download. Could somebody please
help me to get one DVD.
Thanks

[Fedora-ambassadors-list] Requesting DVDs
by Wassim K.

Hello everybody!
It's a shame that, as Fedora ambassador, I still don't have Fedora
Core 5 DVD. The reason is that I don't have a good connection, and the
guy who can download it doesn't have a DVD burner, and he's not
allowed to plug a device in his office.
Here's my deal: If someone can send me 2 DVD's containing respectively
the OS and the extras, I will make copies and send them back to 3
other Fedora users around the world that you specify the addresses
(remember the Kevin Spacey's "Pay it forward" :-))
I would prefer that the sender lives around the Mediterranean sea or
Europe so that the package arrives faster.
To download all extra repositories, download the attached file and type

[Fedora-ambassadors-list] Steering committee meeting last night.
by Clair
After reading through the transcript of the steering committee meeting which
happened last night, I have a few pointers:
* Why is funding, swag, and events seen as the three 'big' things? No. Events
are NOT the most important part of ambassadors. I cannot stress this enough.
Funding and swag should not be seen as something that makes or breaks
ambassadors. The only swag that is imo important is the DVDs. And these can
be produced much more cheaper than the plan so far, and should be sent to ALL
ambassadors whether they are going to an event or not. Handing out DVDs to
friends and people "on the street" is a very big way fedora is spread.
* Alex is trying to combine mentors and ambassadors. This is a sign that Alex
is thinking that ambassadors is some master project. No. It's not.
Ambassadors are here to do one job, and one job only. You do not discuss, or
deal with, marketing. You do not mentor. You tell people about Fedora. You
tell them anywhere, not just in the big events.
* The only overlap between ambassadors and mentors is that the ambassadors
project is in serious need of support. There are too many ambassadors who, in
my opinion, do not know what their role is, or how to fulfill it. It is good
that the committee is starting to see this.
As a side note:
(19:21:20) rjune [n=rjune(a)oh-67-76-200-198.sta.sprint-hsd.net] entered the
room.
(19:21:34) lxmaier: rjune: who are you?
(19:22:23) lxmaier: rjune: this is a members-only meeting, please leave
(19:22:42) rjune left the room (Kicked by lxmaier (lxmaier)).
I was taken aback when reading this - it shocks and saddens me. rjune is an
important member of the fedora community. Several things spring to mind here:
1) By asking "Who are you", it has become clear that Alex does not know, or
care about, anyone who is not an ambassador. She should seriously consider
getting to know strong community members like rjune, whether ambassador or
not.
2) Fedora is open source. We are open. Why should someone be stopped from
spectating (or even taking part?) in a meeting, whether it's committee or
not, whether they're members or not?
3) /kick is a tool that should be used lightly. Not only does keeping +o go
against freenode guidelines, using said op tools is not recommended unless it
is really necessary, since it raises the channel temperature.

[Fedora-ambassadors-list] About Fedora Web Template
by Aks
Dear Punit,
Your designs are all well and it seems you are a bit
interested in Flash animation. The animation I liked most is of template 4.
Could you please try with different colours instead of orange. I would like
you to experiment with blue background and off-white text. Moreover we
should as well give place to other web elements on the page, as the flash
animation alone won't do much.
Let me wait for your new tweaked designs.

[Fedora-ambassadors-list] FCOD Report
by Pawel Sadowski
Hi,
I have a pleasure to write you about Fedora Core Open Days that held in
Poland on 18-19 March.
So, first, after a small delay, some guy from local LUG started the
event by welcoming the people. Then was the first speech, of course
mine ;) First, I've told very shortly about history of Linux (it'd be
difficult to talk about Fedora without knowing the Linux history :>).
Then I started my speech about Fedora. I told inter alia about history
of Fedora - Red Hat Linux → Fedora Core → Fedora Project → Fedora
Foundation, about what's new in FC5, how to help, and generally about
the project. Then there was Mateusz Halaba's and his brother's speech
about KDE. Later there was a set of lectures and talks about various
features of Linux and Fedora Core. The president of local LUG, Filip
Klebczyk had a speech about Linux community. There was a ballot of gifts
from enqiries for participants. There was also a president of B2B, Red
Hat reseller in Poland. After the first day, there was a party in local
pub, but I didn't participate (together with friends from www.fedora.pl
forum we had a party in hotel that we were staying in ;)).
On the second day there were also interesting lectures, inter alia the
lecture of Polish Fedora Core developer, Dawid Gajownik, about SELinux.
Unfortunately, I had to go during his speech, because I had a train to
home (next was in the morning next day). I know that on the second day
there was also a lottery of prizes from questionnaires for participants.
I gave a FC4 DVD to one boy, although he asked me about FC5. I
distributed few copies of FC5. We haven't DVDs so we couldn't burn it
for all participants. And, we had access for CD version, so we would
have to have a lot of CDs to burn it to everybody. But it was also great
that we could have FC5 for this event, and we are very grateful,
especially to Patrick W. Barnes and Jesse Keating for their commitment
and that by dint of them we had FC5 earlier :) We had Ubuntu for
distribute at the event - heh, Fedora would be better, but it was better
to distribute Ubuntu than nothing ;) There was also a tournament in
Frozen Bubble and Python benchs.
Ok, I think that's all. Once again thanks for all people who helped us
organizing this great Fedora event. We are already planning to organize
Fedora Open Days (more appropriate name - Fedora is not only operating
system, and creating the logo for the event will be easier). We were
preliminairly thinking about Cracow. I think this time, we should have
Fedora T-shirts and DVDs for distribute to everybody. It will be a big
show ;)

Cathedral/Bazaar... We are disorganized to some extend, but we spread
our message because we are united by our passion for OSS.

Well, I have no marketing education at all. And IMO, (not to be
disrespectful), that is probably my strong point. Traditional rules
don't always apply when you are working on FOSS
