Although I totally agree with you, this is the part of the earlier
discussion that drew some controversy.
I think it will be an improvement, and will make it easier for new
contributors. However, knowing that not everyone is on board, I'm
inclined to say we shouldn't rock the boat too much.
As a counter-proposal, what if we tried this experimentally on a smaller
project, such as aeolus-image? If it worked well, we could come back and
advocate it to the larger group. If not, we've mitigated most of the
potential for harm. (The one thing I want to make sure of here is that
we don't end up with different workflows for each project in the long
run. As a short-term pilot I think it's fine, but long-term it would
just be bewildering.)
I'm not sure that is going to generate any momentum,
especially since
there are only about 2 maybe 3 people involved in that project.
In honesty though, I know I brought this up again, but I do tend to
agree with Chris (Lalancette) in that we do an incredible amount of
fannying around, and we need to just to get our heads down and crack
on. So although I think this is where I feel we should end up, I'm
happy to let it slide; at least for the time being and possible mention
it again at a later date.
