I like your thought process here. Unfortunately:
whirlwind, tornado, hurricane are api-twister (which might get confused
with twister) are all taken.
cyclone is free though.
Also sticking to the wind theme. How about wind tunnel? Or turbo-fan :P

Yeah, wacky ones are memorable and I can envisage some pretty cool logos
off of "winged monkey" ;)
