Fedora 34: Sound stopped working out of the blue
by Adi Pircalabu
Hi, been running a fresh install of f34 on my laptop for about a week or so with no sound issues and this morning after booting (previous state was shut down) I discovered there's no sound in gnome. Worked perfectly fine last week. Where do I start with the debugging?
rpm -qa kernel-\* | sort
kernel-core-5.13.16-200.fc34.x86_64
kernel-core-5.13.19-200.fc34.x86_64
kernel-core-5.14.9-200.fc34.x86_64
rpm -qa \*pipewire\*
pipewire-libs-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
pipewire-alsa-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
pipewire-gstreamer-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
pipewire-jack-audio-connection-kit-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
pipewire-utils-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
pipewire0.2-libs-0.2.7-5.fc34.x86_64
pipewire-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
pipewire-pulseaudio-0.3.38-1.fc34.x86_64
I've also tried the workaround from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F34_bugs#Audio_may_not_work_after_u... without success.

I'm very confused at this point :)

kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in/Failed to extract plugin meta
data from
by Adrian Sevcenco
Hi! After some update, when starting plasma/kde related applications from
console i started seeing this:
kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data
from '/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so'"
the list is long and seems to involve most if not all of /usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/
does anyone have any idea what is going on and if this is benign?
Thank you!
Adrian

How to manually set pwdReset: FALSE
by Tiziano Müller
Hi everyone,
I just migrated a directory over from OpenLDAP and would now like to turn on the Password Policy functionality `passwordMustChange`. Unfortunately since none of the users has `pwdReset: FALSE` set, this would force every user to change their password. When trying to set `pwdReset: FALSE` for a user I get the error "server unwilling to comply". Is there a way I can still set the attribute for each of the existing users? Such that only from now on when an admin sets a password the user has to set it?
Thank you very much in advance,
Best regards,
Tiziano
