sudo related
by David
To the few of you who recommended that I do a reinstall, to fix my sudo
problem, I just wanted you to know that the marvelous Fedora self-healed
itself.
I assume something in systemd update yesterday, or kernel rc7, fixed the
issue
that I was having.
Anyways, yesterday's update of systemd and kernel rc7 and the other stuff
that
tagged along for the ride, seem to work fine on my install.
I wish people would stop telling me to use Rawhide, and instead teach me
tiny
things that my brain might be able to understand. I am 100% certain
that I have
the lowest IQ of anybody using a developmental version of a Linux
distro. But the
perk to that, is that I might notice something that the programmers don't
see.
On the virus-front,
things are looking bleak over hear in near Houston, Texas, USA.
Not only do we have to worry about the
virus, but now we have looters, and thieves and the normal crime is now
elevated because
the government released hardened criminals onto the streets when there is
no employment.
Everybody here is polishing their guns. Booze or liquor are still
selling because people
are short-sighted and think this is only going to last two weeks. There
are still people
here who think it is a politically motivated event. The government is
sending out
retarded messages - Beaches are free, go to the beach, breath, Beaches are
closed, violators
will be sent to jail, so they can make room for the hardened criminals to
be set free.
Pinch me, I must be dreaming.

segmentation fault
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Trying to debug my program, I get:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x00007ffff7d251f5 in __strlen_avx2 () from /lib64/libc.so.6
Missing separate debuginfos, use: dnf debuginfo-install ncurses-libs-6.1-10.20180923.fc30.x86_64 readline-8.0-2.fc30.x86_64
Does it mean that the issue is with ncurses-libs or readline?
Thanks

Anyone having trouble with shutdown?
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Fedora 31
Shutdown hangs:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1815686
Anyone else having problems with shutdown? It
gets to the point where it says
Target reached: reboot / power off
it hands for about a minutes. Then it constantly
repeats the values in my CPU registers. And it never
exits. <cltr><alt><f2> does not work at this point
either.
The magic one fingered reset works.
Many thanks,

Samba with external usb drive -
by Bob Goodwin
I have been trying to configure an asus RT-N66U router to work with a
USB external hard drive using the asus software. I can see the external
drive in the router setup GUI but it never shows up in the computer
network browser. I thought perhaps it needed Samba installed in Fedora
31? Did that with dnf but it looks like I created an smb server, I think
that is already part of the router? I set up a router and USB drive in
the past with an older version of Fedora and it just worked, not so now.
I would like to have another way to save stuff on my LAN that will be
convenient for the Apple users and me to use. I guess I am looking for
some help from anyone familiar with this. Perhaps I should just buy aWD
NAS unit?

by marco stocchi
Hello everyone,
I am trying to configure dovecot but after having followed the Fedora 31 documentation, I get the following systemctl status (port 587/tcp is open and OS is fresh of installation):
dovecot[1754]: Error: bind(0.0.0.0, 587) failed: Permission denied
dovecot[1754]: Error: service(submission-login): listen(*, 587) failed: Permission denied
dovecot[1754]: Fatal: Failed to start listeners
Is anybody encountering the same problem?
