fedora create livecd creator fails with LXDE ks, and with package
conflicts
by Ranjan Maitra
Hello,
I am aware that a more appropriate place to post would have been the livecd list which is archived at
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/livecd@lists.fedoraproject....
but since the archives seem to be pure spam for the past two months, I am not sure if anyone reads it any more.
So, I thought that I would try my luck here.
I have been trying to build the LXDE spin iso using the default Fedora 25 kickstarts available
/usr/share/spin-kickstarts/fedora-live-lxde.ks and the dependent kickstart files. So, I try the following and get:
$sudo setenforce 0
$ sudo livecd-creator --config=fedora-live-lxde.ks --tmpdir=tmp --fslabel=Fedora-LXDE-25_x86_64
/usr/lib64/python2.7/optparse.py:1013: PendingDeprecationWarning: The KSOption class is deprecated and will be removed in pykickstart-3. Use the argparse module instead.
option = self.option_class(*args, **kwargs)
['/sbin/mkfs.ext4', '-F', '-L', '_Fedora-LXDE-25_x86_64', '-m', '1', '-b', '4096', '/dev/loop0']
/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/yum/config.py:1093: PendingDeprecationWarning: use len(mi) instead
startupconf.distroverpkg)
/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/imgcreate/yuminst.py:161: PendingDeprecationWarning: use len(mi) instead
option = option.replace("$releasever", yum.config._getsysver("/", ("system-release(release)", "redhat-release")))
No such package system-config-network to remove
Error creating Live CD : Failed to build transaction : libcrypt conflicts with libcrypt-nss-2.24-3.fc25.x86_64
libcrypt-nss conflicts with libcrypt-2.24-3.fc25.x86_64
As we can see, the conflict does not allow for the creation of the LiveCD to proceed. But this is the vanilla kickstart file for Fedora's LXDE so I was wondering what was going wrong here?
Thanks very much in anticipation!
Best wishes,
Ranjan

problem with custom partitioning installing 32-bit F25
by Andre Robatino
I'm trying to install 32-bit F25 Gold (RC1.3) from the netinst, with custom partitioning. The only reason I need custom partitioning is to avoid creating a separate /home partition. Unfortunately, due to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1375732 , it won't let me expand the / partition to use the space freed after deleting /home. (This bug wasn't fixed since 32-bit is no longer a blocker.) Is there any fairly easy way to achieve this without custom partitioning in the installer? Or is it likely that an updates.img would be made available after release day to work around this type of issue?

pam_pkcs11 missing in Fedora 25?
by Jim Simmons
Does anyone know why pam_pkcs11 is missing in the Fedora 25 repos?
Systems upgraded from 24 still have the 24 version and it appears to
work (at least as well as it did in 24). Newly install 25 systems
don't appear to be able to install it.
I don't see anything in the release notes or common bugs about this
and /etc/pam.d/smartcard-auth still refers to it.
Thanks,
Jim

Set defaut app based on file extension?
by Stuart McGraw
How can I tell my desktop (fedora-23/xfce4) to use Emacs to open
any file with a ".org" extension? Everything I've found on the
internet seems to set an application based on mimetype but ".org"
files are seen as "text/plain" (at least by the 'file' program)
and I don't want to open all text files with Emacs, just ".org"
ones. Thanks...

PostgreSQL broken by upgrade to F24
by Stephen Davies
In it's infinite wisdom, the upgrade from F23 to F24 updates PostgreSQL from
9.4 to 9.5.5 making existing databases unusable.
I suppose that there is a warning about this somewhere but it certainly isn't
part of the upgrade process.
I know that I can use pg_upgrade to migrate my databases but need the 9.4
binaries to do that.
Are the files in /usr/lib64/pgsql/postgresql-9.4/bin the correct ones to use
with pg_upgrade?

vterm goes blank?
by Tom Horsley
This was weird. I hit Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get a vterm, got a login prompt,
logged in as root, was about to type something when the screen
goes absolutely black. Ctrl-Alt-F3 - still black, Ctrl-Alt-F1,
still black.
It was like using a vterm crashed the nvidia driver or something
(I am using the rpmfusion nvidia driver, not nouveau because
nouveau kept freezing up on me).
Anyone else ever seen this happen?
I was able to ssh in from my phone and reboot there :-).

USB under VMware
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I'm testing VMware Workstation using a Windows 10 guest, but having
problems with mouse integration. Within the guest the mouse cursor
moves and I can click once, to open a settings option for example, but
subsequent clicks are ignored until I force close the window with Alt-
F4, whereupon I can do it again. I've tried both my normal Bluetooth
mouse and a Microsoft wireless mouse (both of which work correctly in
Fedora) but with the same result. My wireless keyboard works correctly
in both host and guest. Switching the mouse between host and guest also
works correctly.
The VMware documentation has various suggestions but mainly they seem
to involve mounting the USB filesystem (usbfs) under /proc/bus/usb,
which doesn't exist in Fedora.
I'm open to ideas on either the specific mouse issue or on the wider
usbfs problem.

nfs - stale file handles
by bruce
Morning guys...
Trying to get input regarding nfs (erver/client) and stale file handles..
Research indicates the stale file issue can arise when the nfs file
changes and the client attempts to interact with an older/out of date
file handle..
The usual solutions have information on doing a remount process on
either the client or serverside of the nfs..
Is this what you guys have seen?
In my use case as I have a bunch of clients interacting/modifying with
the nfs files might be difficult to refresh on the serverside due to
conflicts from the clients using the nfs files..
On the clientside easy enough to automate a process/logic to every so
often do a umount/remount process on the individual client.
Any thoughts/comments??
